Frequently Asked Questions

When should I enroll in Medicare?

Most people should enroll in Medicare during their Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), which begins 3 months before their 65th birthday, includes their birth month, and ends 3 months after. However, if you're still working and covered by employer insurance, you might be eligible to delay enrollment without penalties. We can help determine the best timing for your specific situation.

What if I'm leaving employer coverage after age 65?

If you've delayed Medicare because you had employer coverage and are now retiring or losing that coverage, you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. We'll guide you through the process of enrolling in Medicare Parts A and B through Social Security, help you understand your timeline to avoid coverage gaps, and provide personalized estimates for supplemental coverage options. Our step-by-step approach ensures you have all the coverage you need at the right time.

What's the difference between Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage?

Medicare Supplements (Medigap) work alongside Original Medicare, helping cover costs like deductibles and copayments. Medicare Advantage plans replace Original Medicare, often bundling hospital, medical, and prescription drug coverage into one plan, sometimes with additional benefits like dental and vision. Each approach has different costs, benefits, and networks that we can help you navigate.

Will Medicare cover all my healthcare costs?

Original Medicare (Parts A & B) covers many healthcare services but doesn't cover everything. There are deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance, plus some services like dental, vision, and prescription drugs require additional coverage. We'll help you understand what's covered and recommend appropriate additional coverage for your needs.

How do I ensure my medications are covered?

Prescription drug coverage comes through Medicare Part D plans or as part of Medicare Advantage plans. Each plan has its own formulary (list of covered drugs) and cost structure. We'll analyze your specific medications against available plans to find the most cost-effective coverage for your prescription needs.

Can I keep my current doctors with Medicare?

With Original Medicare plus a Supplement, you can see any doctor that accepts Medicare patients. Medicare Advantage plans typically have provider networks that may limit which doctors you can see. We'll check whether your preferred doctors accept the Medicare options we recommend.
